Poetry Sundays

Each Sunday, Exhale Literary Magazine runs poetry submitted to us by members of the Still Standing community. This is meant to be a welcoming space of creative expression for both experienced poets, and those new to their craft. If you would like your poetry to be shared here, please submit to exhalesubmissions (at) gmail (dot) com with “Poetry Sunday” in your subject.

In addition to community contributions, we will feature one-to-two poems a month by Still Standing’s staff poet, Amy Ramirez. Here is a bit more about Amy:

My name is Amy Ramirez. I am a 30-something, down to earth, poetry lovin’, speak-my-mind kind of girl. I have been married to my first true love since I was a teen and have four gifts from heaven to show for it – three awesome boys and a beautiful heavenly princess who resides in heaven now. She is the reason for everything that I do. My daughter’s name was Nevaeh. She was diagnosed with leukemia at age four and fought three long years. She passed away at six years old on October 29, 2011. Although it has not been that long since her going home to Heaven, it feels like an eternity for us. I am in the works of putting together an organization in her memory called Nevaeh’s Gift. Through this we will share with the world all the love she created and all the beauty she left behind. You can learn more about me and my daughter’s journey on our CarePage site.
